Nearly 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Weather Systems
Around twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, bringing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Residents observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts verified that different parts across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units activated to handle the widespread outages.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, approximately one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered power outages after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- Werribee - saw significant destruction
- Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous emergency calls
- Wyndham - nearly 180 calls for assistance
At one point on the previous day, over 28k power users in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both regions.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the state.
