Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the liquid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.

An important official stated the incident left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
