It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
