AC Shadows Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising partnership that challenges traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A strange meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden cult.
The mission concentrates on "strange tests and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Changes
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the quest will obtain an unique katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This patch also brings the game's third no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
